Sylvain Charlebois is a professor of food distribution and policy at the management and agricultural faculties of theDalhousie University in Halifax. It is also the senior director of Agri-food analysis laboratory, also located at Dalhousie University.

Known as”The Food Professor”, he speaks at numerous conferences and regularly on Global News.

About Dr. Sylvain Charlebois

Sylvain Charlebois is a professor of food distribution and policy at the management and agricultural faculties of theDalhousie University in Halifax. He is also the senior director of Agri-food analysis laboratory, also located at Dalhousie University. Prior to joining Dalhousie, he was affiliated with the Arrell Food Institute at the University of Guelph, which he co-founded. Known under the name of”The Food Professor, her current research focuses on the broad field of food distribution, safety and security. Google Scholar ranks him among the most cited researchers in the world in food supply chain management, food value chains, and traceability.

He is the author of five books on global food systems, the most recent of which, published in 2017 by Wiley-Blackwell, is entitled “Food Safety, Risk Intelligence and Benchmarking.” He has also published over 500 peer-reviewed journal articles in several academic publications. In addition, his research has been featured in several newspapers and media groups, including The Lancet, The Economist, the New York Times, the Boston Globe, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the BBC, NBC, BC, BC, BC, BC, BC, BC, BC, BC, ABC, Fox News, ABC, Fox News, Foreign News, Foreign Affairs, the Globe & Mail, the National Post, and the Toronto Star.

Dr. Charlebois sits on the boards of directors of a few companies and supports numerous organizations as a special advisor, including some publicly traded companies. Charlebois is also a member of the scientific council of the Business Scientific Institute, based in Luxembourg. Dr. Charlebois is a member of the advisory board of the Global Food Traceability Center, based in Washington DC, and a member of the national scientific committee of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), in Ottawa.
